Were you aware that the City of Cedar Rapids is growing with an approximate population of 133,000 residents in 2020. Why is this relevant? As a corridor resident, you may have favorite areas to visit such as the Newbo District on the Southwest side or Lindale Mall on the Northeast side from time to time which our team encourages, but have you noticed the recent development at Westdale Town Center? If you haven’t, we are here to tell you a little about this transformed gem.
Once a booming area of Cedar Rapids in the 1980’s, the Westdale District was arguably the most popular destination in our wonderful city. You could say that at one time, the Westdale Mall was “the place to be” where visitors could shop until they dropped. So, what happened? After a shuffle in ownership, the attraction was decreasing, and the vibrant and busy area was sinking until a very welcomed uptick in recent years. New ownership and a revamped development plan have changed the vision for the future. Easy access? Retail? Dining? Cinema? Further Education? All of these are featured at or near the Westdale Town Center. Sounds like somewhere nice to visit, right? We believe so!
Residential Development has certainly picked up with the addition of our Parkway West apartments for rent. These 1-2-bedroom luxury suites offer many modern finishes and appliances, making you feel right at home on the southwest side of Cedar Rapids. With an extension providing quick and easy access to Highway 100 and Highway 30 leading into 380, residents may come and go as they please with minimal effort. According to Westdale Town Center’s site, there is over 50,000 vehicles daily on roads bordering Westdale. Don’t worry about hitting those dreaded red lights though, rather cruise to your office and pickup a coffee on the way. Local grocers are very close as well; Target, Wal-Mart, & Aldi are each within one mile of Q4’s brand new apartment building. Growing up thirty minutes away from a national grocer was less than ideal, but the Westdale area will erase this hassle. You can even further your education at Purdue Global or Kirkwood, both near Westdale.
That’s not all..popular dining is also in the Westdale Town Center with options such as IHOP, Wing Stop, Firehouse Subs, Starbucks Coffee, Texas Roadhouse, Zio Johno’s, Chick-fil-A, Panera, and many more! Take a quick drive or order in at your convenience. As a bonus, the AMC Classic movie theatre is included in the Westdale District. What is not to love about good food, good grocers, and classic cinema options all at your fingertips. Wait..what about the shopping? Kohls, JC Penney, Burlington, ROSS, Shoe Dept., & PetSmart are each located at Westdale Town Center. There is a lot to be excited about in this revamped development on the southwest side of Cedar Rapids. Convenience, variety, and luxury are all featured. What once was, may very well be again soon!
